2011 HCPCS Level II Released

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) posted the 2011 HCPCS Level II files as this week’s EdgeBlast was being finalized. A quick review shows 147 new codes and modifiers and more than 286 deleted codes. A new Table of Drugs and Index were also released.

Changes include those already announced this year plus the addition of pass-through codes, a large number of G procedures/professional services codes, and many injectable drugs.

Most of the codes deleted come from the G section. Changes are found in the G and Q temporary sections.

I plan to take the CPC in Jan 2011, does the AAPC 2011 study guide and work book have the updated codes?

Alicia, the 2011 updated codes will be in the 2011 study guide, but I would do my best to try to take the exam in 2010 if that is the year your books are.
