In this procedure, the provider performs needle electromyography, which refers to the recording and study of electrical activity of muscles using a needle electrode. Use this code when the provider performs a limited study of muscles in one extremity or of non–limb muscles unilaterally or bilaterally. This code does not apply to muscles classified as thoracic paraspinal, cranial nerve supplied muscles, or sphincters.
