My doctor performed 50820 & 44120. The payer is denying 44120 as bundled. However, CCI edit states there are no bundling issues. Are these codes separately payable?
I see what you are saying, but 50820 includes in the code title, including intestine anastomosis. In my opinion it looks like "double dipping" with 44120 since this code is enterectomy, resection of small intestine; single resection and anastomosis . If the anastomosis was in a different area of the intestine I could see that being okay to bill.
