Wiki 71046 xray of chest being denied for diagnosis

We have started getting denials on xrays code 71046, stating that we have not used a correct diagnosis code. We are a pediatric Pulmonology office, so typically we code asthma, j45.20/or whatever level the child has. Does anyone have any thoughts on different codes we should use or any information on codes we can use with 71046?

Is asthma actually the reason for the xray? Or is it shortness of breath, or wheezing, or something else that would tell the doctor he needs to get a chest xray to make sure the patient doesn't have pneumonia?
