If a physician sees more than 4 patients in one day, all diagnosed with "URI"
and the same medications are given to all,(tessalon, pseudoephedrin, motrin)
does this encounter become less complex and the appropriate CPT code for "limited complexity" apply? CC and ros, exam, are almost identical for all 4 patients. Your answers are appreciated. Thanks.

I am totally confused as to what you are asking. Each patient visit is its "own". The doctor can see 1000 uri's day. They have no bearing on each other..........

I agree, patients are all individual and no 2 visits are completely identical, it is by coincidence that any 2 patients with the same dx have the same visit level.

The level of visit is driven by the documentation in the medical record. View the 1995 or 1997 documentation guidelines for more detail.
