One star flight of 35 miles with three patients, one with ALS. Insurance paid nearly $16K for one insured, $20K for second insured, and the other insurance also paid $20K for its insured. Seems like a lot of reimbursement money. Is this correct? Thanks,

The reimbursement is in the ballpark (I've seen higher). Some employers who are self-insured will use a Pay Beyond Contract arrangement with an insurer in order to keep their employees whole.
