Ambulatory Coding Auditor needed for Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City,OK / Federal Contract

Project Description:
The Ambulatory Coding Auditor will review and audit a representative sample of outpatient records to determine the appropriateness of outpatient code(s) based on medical information documented, to include both direct care and ancillary services performed.
Reviews and audits telephone consult coding for accuracy and appropriateness.
Reviews annually, each outpatient clinic's customized Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) Encounter Template, to assist clinics in developing efficient encounter collection processes.
Assists in developing and providing outpatient clinical coding training (initial and refresher) to providers on no less than a quarterly basis.
Prepares and makes available in writing accuracy reports based on audits.
Provides trend analysis regarding CCE accuracy, by clinic.
Recommends verbally or in writing suggested improvements/corrections (i.e. replacement of outdated codes) to customize AHTLA encounter templates.
Interacts with physicians and other health care providers on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to ensure compliance rates, develop, and report provider productivity.
Maintains proficiency with the CCE software and server.
Provides briefings deemed necessary to appropriate medical and administrative committees/functions.
Possesses knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, pharmacology, surgical and medical procedures sufficient to code for optimum billing. Knowledge shall include medical and surgical specialties and human physiological systems.
Possesses knowledge of accepted medical abbreviations and their meanings and interpretation. Knowledge in the use of specialized references, such as medical nomenclatures, medical dictionaries, medical texts and medical journals to accurately spell and use medical terminology.
Types a minimum of 35 words per minute.
Proficient in Microsoft Office computer programs.
Possesses an in-depth knowledge of procedural and diagnostic coding best practices.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Driver's License
Shall have accreditation from either the American Health Information Management Association or the American Academy of Professional Coders.
