My provider is doing a lumbar RFA on a patient under MAC sedation. He typically provides and bills all of the medications, iv push, iv start etc and he subcontracts an anesthesiologist to do the anesthesia portion. However he is considering employing an anesthesiologist to provide this service. This Dr. will be credentialed under group NPI. I know there are NCCI edits on these codes against the anes code, does anybody know if they will be paid if billed under same billing NPI, but different specialties? I think they will not, but just wanted to ask another opinion. thanks!
