Does anyone charge/code for additional time spent in ASC for recovery observation of the patient if it is needed longer than the standard recovery for each procedure? Example: if the patient needs additional time for anesthesia recovery with minimul nursing assistance, how do you handle?
 
unfortunately that is part of the facility fee and no additional payment is warranted unless you have contracts that specifically address this.
 
Additional Question

The patient arrives in ASC, then the patient is taken to the OR for a procedure and stays there for basic recovery. When the patient is taken back to ASC after the standard OR recovery, can the nursing time spent with the patient in the ASC until they go home be charged to the patient?
