The CPT code guidelines for 99464 state --Attendance at delivery and initial stabilization of newborn. What do you do if the physican doesnt make it into the room prior to the baby being born but instead arrives at just a few minutes of birth. They are being requested by the delivering physician prior to delivery and are still doing the initial exam of the infant. Can you still use CPT code 99464? or would you instead use 99460?

If you were not in attendance at the delivery (whether you missed it by seconds or a day makes no difference) you cannot code 99464.

Use 99460.
