I currently audit for the physicians in the practice where I am employed. I was approached by another practice who would like to hire me to audit their physicians.

I have no idea what I should charge for auditing. Does any one here audit, and do you charge per chart? Per hour? Per 10 charts? How much do you charge?

Or how much would you charge for a formal audit of 10 office visits with a write up of findings, including suggestions for how the physician can improve his/her coding accuracy? Would $30 per physician be asking too much or too little?

I am an internal auditor but I have a friend that is a external auditor for a consulting agency. Her rate is $100 per hour, this includes reports and feedback to the providers.

It is not cheap to bring in outside auditors and you get what you pay for.

Good luck
