Position Summary:

Coding & Billing Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of the Coding & Billing Team. Certified Professional Coder required. The Coding& Billing Supervisor manages and leads the Coding/Billing Team, including hiring, performance management, orientation and training, and completion of annual individual learning conversations and aspects of daily operations. Lead with retention in mind. Work in partnership and joint accountability with other lead team members to achieve Neighborcare Health’s Mission and Guiding Principles and goals.

Essential Job Duties:
•Hold a current certified coding license through AAPC or AHIMA
•Maintain current knowledge of coding conventions, guidelines, updates and regulations governing government and third party billing to ensure that Neighborcare Health coding and documentation meets regulatory guidelines and audit standards
•Supervise the work for the Coding/Billing Team to ensure adherence to quality of standards, deadlines, proper coding/billing procedures, correcting errors and or problems
•Know and understand the most current billing rules and train staff members to understand the billing rules
•Analyze and evaluation information to choose the best solution to solve coding/billing issues
•Model and mentor staff in according to our service commitments
•Participate in Neighborcare Health leadership meetings and leadership development activities
•Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members
•Provide guidance and direction to staff members including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
•Provide staff members with guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated patient complaints and or disputes.
•Train and instruct staff members in job duties, Neighborcare Health policies and arrange for training to be provided.
•Discuss job performance problems with staff members to identify causes and issues and work on resolving problems.

Education and Experience:
•Associates or Bachelor's degree desired or equivalent training and/or experience in patient accounting
•AAPC/AHIMA certification required
•3-5 years of medical service compliance and coding experience with a minimum of one (1) year supervisor experience
•3-5 years of experience in medical patient billing system including entry of charges
