I've had an interesting question from one of our surgeons. He'd like to know if we can bill for our nurse when she goes over to the hospital to turn an Enterra device off before a surgery, and back on after. This is one I'm really unsure about. There is no interrogation or reprogramming of the device involved.

Thoughts?

Thank you!

Any time you bill for services provided for a nurse, it falls under the Incident-To guidelines. According to those guidelines, Incident-To is only valid in a non-hospital place of service. Since the service you are describing takes place in a hospital, you cannot bill for it.
