Hi,

Bone filler is used during an ORIF Px.

Is the application of bone filler incidental to the ORIF Px or is it separately reportable?

Please include rationale or references.

Thanks!!

I am not sure what "Px" stands for but in the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons global data via Code X it states that

"preparation and insertion of synthetic bone substitutes, osteoconductive and osteoinductive agents (eg, hydroxyapatite, calcium phosphates, coral, methylmethacrylate, demineralized bone matrix, bone morphogenetic proteins" is included in ORIF procedures.

I am assuming the bone filler you are referring to would fall into one of the above categories. Hope this helps.
