I have an CV surgeon who does co-surgeries with the cardiologist when inserting a pacemaker or ICD, he does the pocket, puts the generator in pocket and closes. The cardiologist will put in the leads. I code for the CV surgeon but not the cardiologist, and I just started doing this Dr's stuff about a month ago, I was told that we bill like the 33208 with a 62 modifier, that they both bill this, and they both bill the 71090-26. Does this sound correct?
Thank you for any help you can give

Hi,

I'm on the bus at the moment so I can't check the MFSDB but I didn't think this code allowed co-surgeons. If it does, then yes, you can bill this way (althought i'm pretty sure only one of you can bill the 71090).

If co-surgeons are not allowed, then you should bill for insertion of the pulse generator and the cardiologist should bill for the electrodes separately. There are codes for both but again, I'm on the bus and don't remember the codes off the top of my head :)
