Referral dx: rhabdomyosarcoma vs. leukemia, eval for mass
Reason for test: evaluate left ventricle function

Patient has no abnormalities shown in the report to code.

V81.2 was coded, but denied by insurance.

What should I code? 171.9? Is V71.89 even appropriate? Something else?

V71.7 is an invalid code for echocardiograms. If the patient is receiving chemo or radiation therapy you can use 990, V58.11 or V58.12. If these codes do not apply, you can bill symptom codes, SOB, chest discomfort, HTN etc. Most payers follow Medicare's LCD list #L28254 for billable dx.

good luck,
