I have a scenario where a patient comes into the ER because of a splinter in his finger. The ED doc tries to remove it, but isn't able to. Do we code the procedure, even if the MD isn't able to retreive the foreing body (splinter)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Need to see note

Was there an incision? Or was he trying w/ forcepts or a probe of some sort?
Was the splinter actually there, or was he "unsuccessful" because there was, in fact, no FB?

Need to see the note to be sure. You may just have the E/M code.
