I have a coding question concerning cataracts. If the patient has had the cataract removed, do we still code 366.9 (cataract unspecified)?

I am referring to an office visit and the patient reports cataracts, s/p surgery with no complaint. what would be the code?

Would I be correct in assuming that cataracts are not the main reason the patient came in for the visit?
Is this for a follow-up visit in regards to the surgery?

I don't have a book with me. you can code V code (s/p eye surgery)

It is V67.09 for follow-up following surgery, you do not code the condition that existed prior to surgery once that condition is corrected as is the case with cataracts.

If this is a visit for surgery follow-up, you use V67.09 primary and can use
V45.61 (Cataract Extraction Status) as secondary.
