From encoderpro/Ingenix:

46922
Destruction of lesion(s), anus (eg, condyloma, papilloma, molluscum contagiosum, herpetic vesicle), simple; surgical excision

Lay Description

The physician performs destruction of anal lesions with laser therapy in 46917. The physician exposes the perianal skin and identifies the lesions. The lesions are destroyed by laser ablation or laser excision. In 46922, the physician performs destruction of anal lesions by excision. The physician exposes the perianal skin and identifies the lesions. The lesions are surgically excised. The incisions are closed.

It does not matter if scissors or scalpel was used-this is the code for surgical excision as opposed laser, chemical destruction, etc (the incisions were closed right?).

Hope this was helpful for you.

Condyloma Acuminatum

It was cauterized base with silver nitrate. I was getting the same code as you but I didn't know if the cauterized stood for incision closure?

Thanks
Nichole
