Please help:
OB patient has developed Diabetes and she was seen for one of her regular OB checks. The nurse also spent time with her for Diabetic Counseling, can the nurse charge for her time? She's wanting to bill for 99211, is this correct?

you would not use the 99211, you can use one of the HCPC II codes or if the payer does not accept HCPC II codes for this, and some do not, then look at the 98960 code which is perfect for this activity.

Does the nurse that's doing the teaching have to be certified in Diabetic Counseling to use the 9xxxx code or is it for anybody?
