Question, if our doctors use 40 mg depomedrol J1030, but then sometime use 80mg whicj is J1040- if they are drawing up the J1030 2 vials should it be billed as J1030 2 units, or J1040 since its 80mg. Please advise

If your clinic stocks only 40mg/ml 10ml multi-dose vials and your provider administers a total of 50mg how is that coded?

I round down to one ml and bill it as one ml of J1030. Technically, you should be able to do 1.25ml, but our software won't let us. So I round off. And I've learned from that. When my boss says something like, "give me a trigger point injection with 50mg of depo and 50/50 lido/marcaine up to 10cc", I say to him, "so would you like 40mg then?" Plus, our syringes aren't the small insulin syringes with a lot of markings. If he wants a 10cc syringe, you can do half a cc of something, but it's a bit harder to be accurate with less than half a cc.
