Does anyone have any documentation to support if the actual date/time of the patient's discharge needs to included in the discharge summary or is the provider stating, "Patient being discharged today" sufficient enough?
I've never seen guidance that explicit. In fact, sometimes the discharge is anticipated that day, but something happens and the patient's condition changes, so the discharge often can be moved to the next day or later. They can give their best assumption, but things change. I've never seen them give the time (that depends on nursing).
