Wiki DM with Suicidal Ideation

I have a patient that was seen for suicidal ideation and the patient also has DM and is on insulin. The Dr. does not state anything about the ideation being a manifestion of the DM. However, some of co-workers said it needs to be coded as a DM with manifestion of a suicidal ideation... 250.80 and
V62.84....I do not understand this because a person can have these ideation's and it has nothing to do with there DM.....can someone please shed some light on this. I could not find a Coding Clinic or Faye Brown example that even remotely touched on this.....:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:
 
The physician must make the link between the suicide ideation and the diabetes to code it as a diabetic complication. It is not an automatic, because as you have stated they may in fact have absolutely nothing to do with each other.
