Wiki DME Orthotics Difference between L2114/L2116 and L4360/L4386

I am searching for a resource regarding selection of the correct HCPCS code for Ankle Orthotics. Specifically, the difference between L4360/L4386 and L2114 and L2116.

Does the patient's diagnosis effect the code selection? If the patient has a fracture does this change the code. I have always thought codes are based on the actual product provided, not dx.

You're right... The code selection for DME is based on the actual product provided, not the dx.

I'd recommend going to your DME supplier's web site to search for these codes. You should be able to get a basic description, if not an actual picture of what the product looks like. We use DJO and their web site allows us to do that.
