Hello. I am working for a provider who was previously a surgeon at a hospital. She is enrolled with Medicare under an Individual NPI and has a PTAN. She just opened a clinic and wants to enroll as a group. She has a group NPI and Tax ID active already.
What is the process of having the group enrolled?
Should she file for a new enrollment or file for reassignment of benefits from individual NPI?
If she goes the reassignment route, will she lose her individual enrollment that she uses for performing surgeries at another hospital?
Will she have to pay the $631 enrollment fee again when getting the group credentialed?
I would appreciate your help.
