If a PA employed by a hospital does an initial inpatient consult for a surgeon employed by a hospital, and the PA dictates the consult report and discusses the patient with the surgeon can both the PA and physician bill a consult? The surgeon co-signed the PA's consultation and performed surgery the next day. What can the surgeon bill?

they cannot both bill the consul because only the PA performed the face to face consult, the surgeon gets to bill the surgery.
