Our neurosurgeon has a patient that has a wound seroma -status post previous right sided microdiskectomy for L5-S1.
He goes in to the previous incision and did a I& D but while in there he noticed a recurrent disk herniation beneath the descending nerve root. He was able to remove the disk material piecemeal. the endplates were scraped further and additional pieces of disk fragment was removed.
I know we can use the 22015 for the I & D but would we also include another code for the removal of the disk pieces?
