hi,
would anyone know if it is appropriate to attach modifer 59 for CPT code 20600 Arthrocentesis, aspiration and or injection; small joint or bursa (finger, toes) if the physician injects 2 different medications in the toe joint with separate needles separate sites of same toe?
 
I would- if he did the metatarsal joint and the interphlangeal joint then those are two seperate joints. If you are able to send the note with the claim, I would do that too as a bit of a cushion for the (-59)
