We do injections 64450 (which states for anesthetic agent) - meaning we can't bill for the actual drug - correct?

Also we do 20550 along with strapping foot (29540) - 29540 does not specify so could we bill the drug with this code?

Thanks

injections

I always bill drugs with 64455(new for 2009) and get paid. I do not use 64450 and 64455 is more specific. Strapping and injection are two different procedures, so you could bill for drugs. All this is dependent on if the drugs you use are payable.

Sorry for all the questions, but I'm a new coder (I still have my apprentice) and I just took a position of Billing/Coding Specialist. the office had a biller that up and left them and I'm coming in trying to clean up. The previous biller was not consistent at all with her billing of codes and procedures.

According to the CCI Edits, if you bill 20550 or 64450, you can't bill strapping or it won't get paid. Would you use a modifer with it?

Thanks for your help.

Depending on the insurance. Most insurances consider strapping a toe content of service of any other services provided including the E/M code.
