I am not sure how to code labs. Everyone is coding them differently at my facility we are looking for directions on propere coding of labs.
The 80100 code say Drug Screen, Qualitative, Multiple drug classes chromatographic method, each procedure. And 80101 says single drug class method (eg. immuoassay,enzyme assay) each drug class.
When we are coding drugs we will look at our lab note we see
Amphetamines 82145
benzodiazepines
cocaine 82520
opiates 83925
oxycodon
Some of coder are coding each drug individually and others are code 80100 x 5. We were wondering which way was correct. everyone is stump because 80100 says chromatographic mothod and do not think this is the proper code because our lab note do not say chromatographic in them. our should we us the 80101 for each of these codes.
