Has anyone had experience coding when a internist sees a patient and writes orders for
lifestyle modifications (diabetes, etc.) and then the patient would go to a designated gym and be monitored/supervised by a personnal trainer. How would the physician and the personnal trainer bill for reimburesement? Help

Hello,

Regarding your situation..i would look at the time the physician spent with the patient explaining these modifications and bill the E&M based on time spent with the patient, since most payers do not reimburse for literature given. The trainer or facility would bill separately for any therapy services..

Hope this helps..
