Just a general question concerning choice of guidelines to use for my headache specialist. It just seems that it's easier to reach a detailed level of exam by using the 95 guidelines rather than the 97. Would you mind sharing me the advantage of using the 97 verus 95 for this particular specialty? I've been working on chart notes trying to use both, and were it not for the help of you knowledgable people don't know what I'd do!

I agree. 95 exam guidelines are easier, at least in my opinion, for Neurology/Neurosurgery audits. For example: When using the 97 exam (Neurological) , you must have at least one bullet from the cardiovascular area and every bullet from the rest of the systems for a comprehensive exam. When using the 95 guidelines, you must have at least 8 organ systems for a comprehensive exam. Typically, my neurosurgeons examine...Constitutional, eyes, cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, skin, neurologic, psych, lymphatic. Now...I'm using the comprehensive exam as an example since the majority of our patients are surgical patients and this type of exam is medically necessary. At times, my orthopods use this template. Normally, their patients condition is more centralized to one area but when the patient has other comorbidities, there are times it's medically necessary to conduct a comprehensive exam.
