HI IM A NEW BILLER I WORKED IN PEDIATRICS, MY QUESTIONS IS THE PATIENT WAS SEEN BY NURSE PRACTITIONER BUT MY THE MD WANTS TO BILL IT UNDER HIS . SO WHO WILL I BILL TO FOR THE RENDERING PROVIDER ? IS IT OK TO BILL IT UNDER THE MD EVEN THOUGH THE NURSE PRACTITIONER WAS The Who ACTUALLY TREATED AND SAW THE PATIENT. PLEASE HELP ! IM CONFUSED

There are "incident to" rules that allow you to bill under the MD if the NP sees the patient. Google "incident to billing" and you'll be able to review the requirements to bill this way. I hope that's helpful.

It also depends on the insurance. If it's BCBS, they require recognized NPs to bill under their own NPI.
