I have a case in which 2 nerves were excised, and found to be benign. Should this be coded as 88302 x2 or 88305 x2? In the CPT it lists 88302 for Nerves, and 88305 for Nerve biopsy.

To code this correctly you need to know why was these specimens were sent to you. Did they come with other specimens and this nerves are incidental and the surgeon just wants the pathologist to identify and report the nerves (88302)? Was the reason for the procedure to obtain nerve samples or does the surgeon think these nerves have a pathologic DX (88305)?

Biopsies?

If these were sent for more than just identification (88302), these would be biopsies, 88305. I.e. the physician expects more than just confirmation that he removed a bit of nerve, he/she wants to know what, if any, disease process is present.
