So I just signed up, mostly because I have no one to talk to about difficult coding, and as I'm just getting started (internship), I do need direction from more experienced souls.
This may seem pretty elementary, for which I apologize.
I needed a straight-forward diagnosis for "folate deficiency anemia due to dietary causes" so I went to the index, to the tabular, checked and cross checked, and came up with 281.2 "folate deficiency anemia."
This was marked wrong, and the right code was given as 281.9, "unspecified deficiency anemia." A hint popped up which read: "This isn't it. Try again looking under Anemia, deficiency, folate, dietary." Which is exactly what I did to start with.
Both 281.2 and 281.9 include "dietary" in the subterms.
But before I challenge somebody on this, I want to be sure that 281.2 is right. Could somebody please chime in? Any help much appreciated.
