Good Morning: I would really appreciate input on this. I have just started with podiatry and would like someone to confirm the codes to use for Trim skin lesion. If the doctor does 10 lesions would the coding be 11055 for the 1st one, 11056 for the 2 to 4 and then 11057 for over 4? with the 51 modifier or simply the 11057, over 4? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.

What kind of lesion? My physician usually does one callus and used 11055. However looking at cpt I would say that if your physician did 10 callus's or corns's you would code 11057 only (more than 4 lesions).

Since 11057 is indented the description (more than 4 lesions) comes after the ; in 11055. Hope that helps

From EncoderPro

The physician removes a benign hyperkeratotic skin lesion such as a corn or callus by cutting, clipping, or paring. Report 11055 when one lesion is removed; 11056 when two to four lesions are removed; and 11057 when more than four lesions are removed.
