Hello,
Can anyone share with me if they have had experience in billing a ' non visit consult.'? One of my clients just inquired about billing for the physicians time to review medical records to determine if the patient needs to be urgently seen or not. They have been told by a very credible source this is billable. My interpretation of this is that it falls within the regular E/M service WHEN they actually evaluate the patient and not before.
They are reviewing records almost 2-3 months ahead of time before the patient will actually come in for a visit.
Any guidance you can provide is most appreciated.
