Hello-
I have a patient waiting to be scheduled for surgery to have her Filshie clips removed. The only CPT code I am seeing to use is the unlisted code. Anybody have experience with this? I am fairly new to GYN/OB coding world.

Thank you in advance for your time!

It is correct that there is no CPT for removal of Filshie clips. If performed during another procedure, it is often not coded separately and either included in the primary procedure, or -22 if documentation supports for significant additional work/time.
If this is the only procedure and being removed laparoscopically, I would suggest unlisted 58679.

Can I ask what the unlisted code could be compared to in price? I have the same scenario, lap exam with removal of filshie clip in the pelvis. Or I could do lap exam with a 22 modifier. They were looking for that and endometriosis but no endometriosis found.
Thanks

In general, unlisted codes should not be compared to any specific CPT. Based on the specific case and documentation, you should use a comparison code (and price) based on a CPT that is similar in work to this specific case. I would recommend asking for clinician input for a comparison code. Possible comparison CPT could include 49320, 49321, 58662, 49402.
Alternately, if records support, you could use the diagnostic laparoscopy with -22.

Good to know. Thanks
