I am looking for clarification if whether or not a Physician Assistant can be the rendering Provider for Allergy Shots.
Can we bill under his/her NPI# ?
There is not a MD in the Office. No Direct Supervision.
One of my MDs wants me to Provide Written Documentation that this is or is not Allowed.
Thank you in advance for your time.
Paula

At our office, the rendering is ALWAYS the physician who ordered allergy injections for the patients. Our injection nurse gives the injection each time. The ONLY time we would bill a PA as a rendering is if the patient is here for their first injection and actually saw the PA. Even then, only the OV would be billed with the PA as rendering and the injection would show the MD as rendering.
