Patient was admitted to hospital. Currently "inpatient Status". Admitting physician requested a consult from an ENT. Patient was then seen by the ENT, but the patient was brought to the ENT's office, which is located in the Professional building next door to the Hospital. The ENT is an independent physician billing under her own TAX ID# .
Patient was brought to the physician office because the procedure 30903 required equipment not available at the hospital. My question should the service provided by the ENT physician be billed as "inpatient" visit or an Office visit? The service did occur in the physician's office. After the procedure was completed the patient did return to the Hospital to complete Inpatient stay. Help!

The patient can be registered patient in only one location at a time. So if they are a registered inpatient and not discharged but still brought to your office then they are still an inpatient and you must bill with the POS as 21 and not 11
