Patient's Behavioral Health Provider requesting PCP phone call patient not present

Hi,

I have our clinic manager calling me to see if her provider can bill for a phone call with the Behavioral Health provider. Patient will not be present. Currently the clinic does not charge for any type of phone call except for attorney and L&I. And of course we are currently providing telemedicine due to COVID.

PCP will not schedule the call unless she will be paid for her time on the phone with the Behavioral Health provider. I spoke to our biller/coder and she also has never coded or billed for this type of call. We feel this would be considered continuity of care.

If any one could give me any advice or information that would be wonderful. Of course they are wanting some type of answer by today. Ugh!
