Wiki Pre-Booking Exams on ED patients

I was wondering if anyone knows how to get paid from insurance companies for pre-booking exams? In California, we are having a difficult time getting paid for the exams when a patient is brought in by a police officer for clearance into jail. The ICD-10 codes are correct but once the insurance companies see that the patient was discharged to the police officer, they deny the claim. Any suggestions?

I've never heard of commercial payers or Medicare paying for these. Would these not be paid for by the jail?

I worked in correctional medicine and if the patient is covered at the time of the arrest by other insurance, then the insurance is suppose to process the claim. However this is according to The state I worked in, now having said this you will find that many have been fired from their jobs and are not covered anymore, with regard to Medicare, you must bill correctional carrier for that jail or prison, which is usually taken care of thru the correctional facility.
