I have a few questions regarding hypertension where I find people interpret and code differently.
1. Is pre-hypertension coded as 401.9
2. Can someone who has been diagnosed with malignant hypertension improve to change the diagnosis to benign?
3. I have been told once you have "hypertension" you always have it. That it can be coded as a chronic condition. But then I have been told is a person is pre-hypertensive or benign that through exercise, diet can correct the problem...and then, would they not have hypertension?
4. Is "stable" hypertension the same as "benign", or would it be coded as unspecified?
