if a patient fractures a bone and the doctor gets it reduced well, and then a month later it displaces again, would it be technically considered a malunion or non-union?

I would just consider it a re-fracture. A malunion is a fracture that heals inappropriately and a nonunion is a fracture that isn't healing. Neither would be the case in this situation.
