Position Overview
The Vascular/IR Coder will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating patient medical records to ensure proper coding occurs. This position will also be responsible for reviewing codes related to denials from payers. This coder will be required to run reports from company used systems and analyze the data provided.
Performance Objectives
  • This individual will be responsible for reviewing and evaluating patient medical records and accurately assigning and sequencing ICD-10-CM codes, CPT codes and modifiers, and researching coding related claim denials
  • The individual will be required to meet monthly productivity benchmarks and have an accuracy rate of 98% for CPT codes and 96% for ICD-10-CM codes on audits
  • This individual will be responsible for auditing the denial process such as re-billing claims, assigning appropriate notes in Imagine and moving charges to the correct buckets. They will communicate with internal departments and will need to resolve issues within a specified time-frame.
Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or foreign equivalent required
  • AAPC, AHIMA, or RBMA Certification required
  • Interventional coding experience required
  • General understanding of Medicare billing rules (i.e. LCD/NCD, CCI, Medical Necessity, and ABN) needed
  • Attention to detail

  • The ability to concentrate for long periods of time
  • Technical Capacity
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • AAPC CIRCC certification highly preferred
  • Vascular coding experience preferred
