We have a patient who recently had lumbar fusion, who was taken back to surgery on a later date to have the segmental instrumentation inserted. My doctor dictated that the procedure was a minimally invasive percutaneous lumbar instrumentation. Basically, he made a small stab incision & placed the instrumentation. The codes I usually use for this type of instrumentation are add on codes (22842-22847). Since he is not reinserting instrumentation, is there another code that would be appropriate for this procedure?
