Skills test for A/R Specialist?

We are trying to fill an A/R Specialist position and struggling to find candidates with the right experience (heck, we're struggling just to get candidates with any experience!). We've been looking for six months and hired one candidate who did not work out. Do any of you ask your final candidates to do a skills test? If so, did you develop it yourself or purchase it? TIA!

We have and created the test ourselves containing areas of what we expect the person to perform from the job description.

I started by pulling EOB's with my most common denials (patient info redacted) and asking applicant's to tell me how they would solve the denial. It actually was very helpful as many people did not even know what CO-45 was so it helped me not to hire anyone without the knowledge we required. We advanced that to an online quiz that we created with the same info via iSpring but you could get the same results just having them review EOB's with denials.

Thank you for the input. I'm hoping to avoid creating my own (I am incredibly crunched on time and resources right now) but that is my plan if I can't find something ready made to use - create billing scenarios using real denials and ask the candidate to resolve the issues. I just experienced the same thing with my last hire - she had loads of experience per her resume but did not recognize any denials codes she was shown during orientation or why CO-45 wasn't a "valid" reason for a denial.
