Is anyone billing for surgeons doing home health certification? If so, are you getting denials when the certification occurs during the global period of their surgical procedure? Prior to the transfer from Cahaba to Palmetto, we did not receive very many denials, but now most of these charges are being denied. We bill with the date of service as the date the provider signed the Plan of Treatment, we list the certification period to populate in the electronic equivalent of box 19, and POS 11. All the criteria used previously when we received payment. Any insight would be greatly appreciated as one of the surgeon's insists that these should be paid even in the global period, but I cannot find any information to back this up.
