Description of Operation:
Incision was made through skin and then bluntly through subcutaneous tissue. The prior lateral release was then utilized and the distal portion of the plate was visualized. Soft tissues were then resected off the plate. Overlying the plate, beneathe the iliotibial band, there was a large bursa sac. The distal screws were removed. Proximally, the ITB and the vastus lateralis were reflected anteriorly with blunt dissection. Soft tissues were removed from plate and the proximal screws wer removed. Once all soft tissues were then resected off the plate, along with the bursa sac, the plate was then loosened utilizing osteotome and mallet. The plate was then removed.

The doctor wants to use CPT 27372, I am more incline to use 20680. Which would be the correct coding on this??? Thanks for the Help!
 
I think CPT Code 20680 would be appropriate all this was is a removal of hardware probable for harware failure and/or complications.
