When a patient comes in for the tb reading we are billing 99211 with a diag of v74.1. I just received my first denial saying dx does not substantiate visit. I was wondering what other practices were doing. Thanks

I have always been told it is inclusive to the TB test and the reading cannot be billed.

Same here. All you are doing is reading it and documenting it. It does not constitute an additional E&M... included in the primary procedure.

Thanks Ladies. I always thought it was included as well but our office manager saw something in a coding alert that said we could bill it so we have begun to do that. I think I will go back and speak with her about it. Thanks again for the input!
